JENNY SHARAF
JENNYSHARAF.COM | @JENNYSHARAF
Jenny Sharaf is a multidisciplinary artist whose vibrant abstractions channel the radical legacies of West Coast art. Rooted in a distinctly Californian sensibility—sun-drenched, free-spirited, and deeply informed by the landscape and cultural textures of the Pacific—Sharaf’s practice spans painting, ceramics, and photography. At its core, however, she is a painter: drawing on lineages of art history from feminist performance to the collage aesthetics of 1970s counterculture.
Her compositions pulse with organic shapes and saturated color, merging intuitive gestures with a keen graphic instinct. Across mediums and scales, Sharaf evokes the visual language of mid-century textile design and surf psychedelia, reframing these motifs through a contemporary feminist lens. Her works radiate a spirit of liberation, joy, and rebellion that defines the California mythos for a global audience.
Sharaf received her B.F.A. from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa and her M.F.A. from Mills College in Oakland. Her work is held in private and institutional collections, including the El Sol Collection in Beirut. She lives and works in San Francisco.
