Lauren DiCioccio is a multimedia artist whose work spans sculpture, textiles, 3D modeling, painting and design. Her work explores nostalgia for and attachment to a tactile world against the fragility of a digital future. Interested in the alchemy by which an artist animates material through the application of labor and skill, DiCioccio searches for ways to imbue her work with qualities that are essentially human. Past solo exhibitions include those at Jack Fischer Gallery (San Francisco), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco), Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery (London, UK) and Tomlinson Kong Contemporary (New York). Past group exhibitions include those at San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, Laguna Art Museum, and Bellevue Arts Museum.
DiCioccio has been an artist in residence at the McColl Center, Vermont Studio Center, Recology SF, John Michael Kohler Arts Center Arts/Industry Program; an Affiliate Arts at the Headlands Center for the Arts; and currently serves as a trustee for the Djerassi Resident Artists Program. She graduated magna cum laude from Colgate University and received a Masters Degree from Teachers College at Columbia University. DiCioccio is the co-founder and owner of Open Editions, a San-Francisco based manufacturing and retail company producing artist-designed goods.
